Dr. Christophe Martinaud is Senior Director of Medical and Scientific Affairs for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa at Cepheid. He leads regional medical strategy, scientific engagement, and clinical and real‑world evidence generation, and contributes to patient safety governance. Since joining Cepheid in 2022, his work has focused on leveraging diagnostics and diagnostic stewardship to improve patient outcomes, support appropriate antimicrobial use, and address antimicrobial resistance across diverse healthcare systems.
A medical doctor trained in Bordeaux and Paris (France), he completed a medical residencies in general medicine and later in laboratory medicine, and initially practiced as a general practitioner before specializing. He also holds a PhD in molecular and cell biology.
Prior to joining industry, he spent many years in academic hospitals in France, where he headed diagnostic laboratories, led research teams, and served as Professor of Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Martinaud has authored over 100 peer‑reviewed publications, with research interests in infectious diseases, blood transfusion, and diagnostic innovation. His career reflects a sustained commitment to advancing diagnostic stewardship, patient safety, and evidence‑based decision‑making in the global response to antimicrobial resistance.
