Ben Novak joined Paratek Pharmaceuticals as Senior Director of Government Affairs in September 2024, where his focus is on engaging Congress, HHS, and DOD on important issues around antimicrobial resistance and biodefense preparedness.  Prior to join Paratek Ben spent five years at SIGA Technologies, where he managed business development and government engagement with the DoD and ASPR/BARDA for the development and procurement of TPOXX, a smallpox antiviral treatment. He also led SIGA’s alliance management with their international sales partners and oversaw their response to the 2022 global mpox outbreak, helping to ensure access to TPOXX across the globe.  Ben was the SIGA representative to multiple industry organizations, including the Alliance for Biosecurity, BIO Biodefense Policy Steering Committee, and the Medical Countermeasures Coalition.

Prior to SIGA, Ben spent over 13 years in the U.S. Federal Government, including roles at HHS and the FDA, focusing on budget, biodefense, public health emergencies, food safety, and AMR. He holds a Master’s in Public Policy and Management from Carnegie Mellon University, along with degrees in Biomedical Engineering and Political Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
